Co-ed Soccer
NEW TEAMS WELCOME! Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the sport, our league offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your skills, make new friends, and experience the thrill of competition. This league is focused on fair play, sportsmanship and ensuring our matches are enjoyable for participants of all levels.

Resolution Run 5k & Salish Splash
Start your year off right by sprinting into the New Year at Island Rec’s annual Resolution Run/Walk 5k! The route starts and ends at Jackson Beach so you can enjoy the optional polar dip in the Salish Sea after your run. Fires will be lit, and snacks will be available. Please make sure to bring a warm change of clothes if you plan on splashing with us. Beanies available for the first 80 registered!

Riders of the Nite

Youth Basketball Leagues
Games played on Sundays at Turnbull Gym. Previous team experience not required. Leagues: 2/3 grades, 4/5 grades, and 6/7/8 grades. Volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, team assistants, scorekeepers and referees are needed!

Roller Skate Nights
The Fair Building gets transformed into a roller rink for the night, complete with music and lights. Youth 12 and under must have a guardian onsite. Under 18, helmets required. Roller skates/blades only in the big loop. Scooters and strider bikes in the smaller loop.

Birdwatching
Explore San Juan Island with our eagle eye birdwatching guide, Tyler Davis. These walking tours will allow for opportunities to learn about the variety of birds and habitats right in our own backyard. No experience needed; but binoculars are highly recommended.

Children’s Festival Poster Contest

Shamrock Fun Run
Put on your green clothes and join the fun for a St. Patrick’s 5k run / walk to search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Everyone is invited to this event where it’s all about having a good time. You’ll enjoy silly activities, like collecting four-leaf clovers along the way. The run will be held at Linde Park and prizes will be collected on each of three loops around the park.

Teen Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt
Bring your flashlight and your bag for a challenging nighttime Easter egg hunt amongst the driftwood. Afterwards you can hang out around the bonfire and enjoy your treats! Keep an eye out for the Golden Eggs—they’ll have gift cards inside! Remember to bring a flashlight and a bag to carry your eggs in.

Forest Bathing with Tony Held
Forest Bathing is a gentle, guided sensory walk — not a hike — designed to help you slow down, unplug, and mindfully relate to nature. Island Rec is hosting the annual Island Kid’s Maker Fair providing kids a forum to showcase their work. Booths are available for kids grades 4–12. With the help of parental supervision, young participants can produce their own products, set up their own booths, market their wares, interact with customers, manage money and build confidence and entrepreneurial skills!
