Island Rec Parks, Recreation & Open Space Plan Update
Be a part of the future for Island Rec’s programs and parks!
Island Rec is beginning a community-driven process to update its Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan. With your participation, this Plan will help guide the District in providing recreation services and parks on San Juan Island over the next six to ten years. The plan will:
- Inform how we prioritize recreation projects and investments;
- Guide how we improve parks and expand recreation options to serve the community’s needs; and
- Help us prepare to have the resources and capacity to maintain what we add or expand.
The new PROS Plan will take about 8 months to complete and will be finalized in early 2027.

Community input is critical in this process, and we want to hear from you! We need your help to determine how to prioritize projects and what we should focus on to keep our parks and programs thriving.
In the coming weeks, we will launch a community survey, plus start preparing for a community open house to occur later this fall. Check back soon!
