British Soccer Camps

British Soccer Camps provide players of all ages and abilities with the rare opportunity to receive high-level soccer coaching from a team of international experts. Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Camp includes a free ball and t-shirt. Families are needed to host coaches during the week. Participate in this cultural exchange and receive a camp rebate of $80.

FANS Free Soccer Clinics Ages 3-12
Families and Neighbors Support Island Rec (FANS) and Challenger Sports present this fun-filled day of Soccer. Coaches from the British Soccer Camp will be teaching these free clinics at the FHES fields. No pre-registration is required, but please arrive 15 minutes prior to your age group.

British Soccer Half Day Development Camp Ages 6-14
Each day the coaches will take the players through a progressive series of skill building practices from unopposed, to opposed, game related and finally into a game. Techniques covered throughout the week: Soccer ABC – Players will improve their Agility, Balance and Coordination. Dribbling – improve the ability to change direction and move at speed. Moves – master more than 20 different ways to turn and fake opponents. Passing – improve power and placement with each foot. Heading – learn how to safely and confidently head the ball. Tackling/Defending – improve your tackling skills and learn how to defend.

Skyhawks Sports Camps

Skyhawks Mini-Hawks Ages 4-7
The essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Mini-Hawk games and activities are designed to allow campers to explore balance, movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. All participants receive a t-shirt, ball, and Merit Award. Bring water and a snack and wear appropriate clothing, running shoes, and sunscreen.

Skyhawks Tennis Ages 7-14
Players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves during a series of drills designed to teach skills in a fun and dynamic way. In addition to developing a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis such an exciting game to play. Due to limited court space, these programs fill quickly. Participants will receive a t-shirt and player evaluation. A minimum of 10 participants is needed by early fee deadline. Bring tennis racquet (not required); water, and a snack. Please wear court shoes and sunscreen.

Circus Arts Camp

Kids will find this camp fun, interesting and challenging as they are introduced to a variety of skills inspired by circus artists from around the world. Activities include Juggling, Trapeze, Tightrope, Unicycle, Tumbling, Acro-balance, Stilt-walking, Clowning, Magic and more. Della and Wren, better known as Dellamoustachella, will be teaching the July 31-Aug 4 camps, and Roustabout Circus will be teaching the August 7-11 camps. They are both new for Island Rec but have been teaching circus arts along the West Coast from Alaska to Mexico for many years.

This camp, held at the cozy Island Rec House, will give young authors an opportunity to explore a variety of genres (fiction, memoir, poetry). Writer’s at any stage of their creative writing path, including those who are ready to write their first piece, are welcome. A minimum of 5 participants is needed by early fee deadline.

Cheer Camp

This camp is designed for the aspiring young athlete who wants to develop cheer skills in an exciting, creative and fun atmosphere. Campers will learn fundamental cheer skills, cheers and chants, basic stunts, spirit dance and, most importantly, teamwork. Your coach will be former collegiate cheerleader and competitive high school cheer coach and The Studio owner, Jacquelyn Reiff. If you want to bring your cheerleading skills to the next level then this is the camp for you! You will receive a pair of pom poms, a manual containing all material taught in camp, and fun spirit buddy ideas and gifts from Coach Jacquelyn that you can use during your cheer season. FUN!!!! Minimum of 10 registrants needed by early registration deadline!

Skateboard Camp

Whether you want to learn new tricks or try skateboarding for the first time, this camp is great for boys and girls of all skill levels. Learn from a dynamic team of instructors from the Seattle area. Participants will learn skateboarding basics in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Skateboards and helmets will be provided to those who do not have their own. A minimum of 7 participants is needed by early fee deadline.

This clinic is designed for players of all levels who want to learn and improve their fundamental soccer skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Players are given the unique opportunity to receive individual instruction from the 2016 NCAA DII National Champs: Western Washington University Women’s soccer coaches and players! Camps Going Green & Island Olympics

Camp: Going Green Ages 6-12
This week campers will participate in community and environmental projects and will have the opportunity to visit a local farm and learn about where our food comes from and who grows it. We will have an island adventure to Jackson Beach where we will do a beach clean up before we have a sandcastle/sand-sculpture building contest!

Dance Camp

Dance, dance and more dance. Jeanne Peihl of Salish Sea Ballet will be offering Jazz, Funk and Hip Hop dance skills, infused with games, crafts, and team-building exercises. There’ll be tons of fun and fitness in a safe and supportive environment. Participants will learn a short dance routine to perform for friends and family at the end of camp! She Rocks Movement Camp

This camp is for girls and will focus on movement and body awareness. Movement will include: Pilates, Dance, Strength, and Endurance activities followed by relaxation, meditation and affirmations. Location will alternate between Jackson Beach and The Studio. Previous dance experience or organized physical activity is not required. Minimum of 8 registrants needed by early registration deadline!

Babysitting Class

Babysitting is important business and good babysitters are always in demand! Safe Sitter® is a nationally recognized training program that teaches the skills to do the job well and earn parents’ trust. Safe Sitters will leave this training with a valuable toolkit of medically accurate, up-to-date information and potentially life-saving skills to add to their babysitting resumes. Participants will learn: How and where injuries can happen, and how to prevent them, how to perform infant/child choking rescue, how a child’s age affects how to care for them, how to prevent problem behaviors, and how to effectively run a babysitting business. Be the sitter that all kids and parents want! A minimum of 6 participants is needed by the early registration deadline.

FHFC Soccer Technical Training

This technical soccer clinic is designed for the serious young soccer player looking to continually improve their game. This will be an intense, no-nonsense soccer clinic that is competitive and technically focused. Tuesday and Thursday sessions will focus on all field positions while Wednesday’s will focus on goal keeper and striker training. Led by professionally licensed Coach Van, who has numerous years of experience coaching boys and girls from recreational to Youth Academy level.
