Island Rec - San Juan Island Park &: Recreation District Minutes of the Board of Commissioners' Meeting
April 6, 2006

Commissioner Cumming called the meeting to order at 5:34 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at the Island Rec Office.  Commissioners Cumming, Zehner, Ricks, Brown and Hahn present.  Staff present, Director Kerr and Admin. Assistant Curtiss.  

  1. Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting.  Commissioner Ricks moved for approval of the minutes as presented.  Commissioner Zehner second.  Motion carried.
  2. Public Hearing re:  Budget Amendment.  Commissioner Cumming opened the Public Hearing at 5:38 pm to receive public comment regarding amendments to the 2006 budget.  Fred Schaller, representing the badminton players, requested re-configuration of the nets and repair of the net standards for next season.    Director Kerr, the Commissioners and Mr. Schaller discussed repair methods with Mr. Schaller agreeing to forward details of the requested improvements to Ms. Kerr.   Commissioner Cumming closed the Public Hearing at 5:52.         
  3. Introduction of Visitors/Public Comment on Non-Agenda Items:  Mary Blevins was in attendance representing the Sailing Foundation and Fred Schaller representing the badminton players. 
  4. Correspondence:  None.   
  5. Approval of Payroll/Vouchers:  Director Kerr presented payroll and vouchers for approval.  Without objection, Commissioners approved payroll and vouchers as presented. 
  6. On-Going Business: 

Children’s Festival – Ms. Kerr asked for volunteers for the Children’s     Festival to help with parking, decorating and clean up.     

7.  New Business:        

Resolution No. 06-1  re:  Amendment to the 2006 Budget.  Commissioner Ricks moved for the approval of the Resolution as presented.  Commissioner Zehner second.  Discussion.  Motion carried unanimously.

      

8.  Commissioner Discussion Items:

     (a)  Commissioner Brown advised Ms. Kerr of a broken swing at the Fairgrounds Family Park. 

Commissioner Hahn asked the status of the Lafarge property, the athletic fields and the Kids Club.

Director Kerr reminded the Commissioners of the Volunteer Recognition Event scheduled for April 20, noting cancellation of the regular meeting scheduled for that evening. 

       

9.  Adjournment – Without objection, Commissioner Cumming adjourned the meeting at 6:18 pm.
