STAR is Island Rec’s new supervised after-school program for boys and girls ages K-6. STAR is structured to provide opportunities for every child to learn, play, socialize and grow in a safe, enriching, and nurturing environment. Each day the program will include time for child initiated play; organized games and activities, snack and homework time.  It is licensed by Washington State Department of Early Learning and staffed by Alice Hibberd, Coordinator and Mister Conrad STAR Leader.

When & Where: STAR is located at Friday Harbor Elementary School

School days:               2:45pm - 6:00pm
Early dismissal days:    11:10am – 6:00pm
School holidays:              8:00am – 6:00pm NEW!

Daily Cost:                   $12.50 on regular school days
                                   $21 on early dismissal days
                                   $27 on holidays
                                   *2nd child receives 20% discount.

 Weekly:                         Register for Mon-Fri and save 10% off daily rates

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:

Financial Assistance is available Working Connections Child Care Subsidy. Call DSHS at 877-501-2233 or go to http://www.dshs.wa.gov and click on child care.

How to Enroll:

1. Fill out the STAR Application Form
If you think your child will participate in the STAR program at any time during the school year, fill this out. There is no fee to apply. Submit your form to the school, or the Island Rec office from 1 – 5 pm Monday-Friday. Once Island Rec has received your application form, your child can attend STAR whenever you need.

2. NEW! Your child can now drop-in to STAR any day without pre-registering and you will be billed via email at the end of each month, with payment due within 5 days. Or if you prefer, you can pre-register your child for STAR and pay in advance online or in person at Island Rec (580 Guard Street). Remember your child cannot drop-in or pre-register until Island Rec receives your STAR application.

Refund/Cancellation Policy:
You may transfer your child’s STAR registration(s) to another date at no cost, with 5 business days notice to Island Rec, OR request a refund minus a $12 transaction fee. Please note that cancellations made less than 5 business days out are not eligible for any refund and cannot be transferred to another date.
