Cancellation, Refund and Credit Policy

If Island Rec cancels a program you will receive a full refund.

Participant cancellations made before a program’s early fee deadline date are eligible for a refund. If there is no early fee deadline, the cancellation must be made at least 5 business days before the start of the program to be eligible for a refund. Refunds are given in the form of a mailed check, or a credit to your Island Rec account: If you would like a refund check mailed to you, it will be subject to an 8% service fee, with a minimum of $12, maximum $45. Or, a full refund can be credited to your Island Rec account for future program use with no service fee. Account credits are valid for one year from the date it is added to the account. By choosing the credit option, the participant agrees that credits remaining inactive for one year will be donated to the District for program scholarships, without further contact from the District.

No refunds after the early fee deadline date.
No refunds on trips or tours.

Cancellation of STAR Early Dismissal requires at least 2 business days notice in order to receive a refund. Credit will automatically be placed on your Island Rec account.

Cancellation of School’s Out Camps require at least 2 business days notice in order to receive a refund. Credit will automatically be placed on your Island Rec account.

Cancellation of Camp Eagle Rock requires at least 5 business days notice to be eligible for a refund.

 

Cancellations Due to Inclement Weather

Whenever Island Rec cancels a program it will be posted on www.islandrec.org/calendar, and posted on the on Island Rec Facebook Page. Pre-registered participants will be emailed via AciveNet and the cancellation will be announced on Island Rec’s recorded phone message at 360-378-4953 if staff are able to safely get to the Island Rec office. The following guidelines will apply:

  • Island Rec’s morning programs, ie. Active Senior Fitness and Moving Parts and Healthy Hearts will close when the school announces a late start or school closure.
  • Afternoon and Evening programs (i.e. STAR, TREC, basketball practices, open gyms and fair building programs) will be cancelled whenever the school closes or is dismissed early because of snow or inclement weather.
  • When school is not in session Island Rec will make a decision about canceling a program 1.5 hours before the scheduled start of the program and post it accordingly.
  • When a special event is cancelled, (e.g. the Father Daughter Dance, the 8.8k Run, etc.) every effort will be made to reschedule the event. If a participant is not able to attend the rescheduled date, a refund will be issued. 
  • Exceptions to these guidelines will be announced on www.islandrec.org, on Island Rec’s Facebook page, and will be announced on Island Rec’s recorded phone message if staff are able to safely get to the Island Rec office.
